The All-Purpose Seasoning
I love cooking. I eventually figured out that I used some of the same seasonings in a lot of my dishes, so I decided to pre-mix some of them and make a base all-purpose seasoning. So here is one possible version of it.
You'll probably want to have a precision kitchen scale to weigh the ingredients (precision of 0.1g). Mix together:
This will look like this:
Now you can just mix this and place it in a dry container. In my case I prefer to add 5 bay leaves and put it in a 700ml bottle (typical size for licor bottles that most people have lying around), like so:
Then just fill the bottle to the brim with (around) 400ml of olive oil. Shake it until mixed. Final result will look like this:
Now notice some things about this mix:
You'll probably want to have a precision kitchen scale to weigh the ingredients (precision of 0.1g). Mix together:
- 40g regular paprika
- 40g smoked paprika
- 20g ground black pepper
- 15g cayenne pepper
- 10g dried garlic granules
- 5g ground nutmeg
- 2.5g ground cloves

Now notice some things about this mix:
- It has no salt, so you can use it on things where you'll add the salt with the mix or you can use it to season already salted meats (for example).
- It has very little garlic. This is intentional, as I prefer to add fresh garlic to my recipes.
- It is a bit spicy, but not too much, so you can add more if you like it.
- It will precipitate, so shake well before using!
Enjoy.
